Wearable Art at HIMSS13 Makes a Big Statement

March 5, 2013Christina Nash

At HIMSS13, there’s something that stands out, even in colorful New Orleans. You can’t miss it–beautiful pieces of original artwork painted on the backs of men’s and women’s suit jackets. The bright bursts of colors on the backs of otherwise drab business attire are unexpected and eye-catching.

When you find out the story behind the wearable murals, it’s even more intriguing. Regina Holliday is the artist–and she is here at HIMSS13 to support health technology being used to help patients gain better access to their records. Regina’s mission is personal. Her husband Fred died in 2009 at the age of 39 from kidney cancer. Back then, as her husband was transferred from hospital to hospital, she couldn’t get his medical records and she feels if she’d had better access to them, Fred would have received better care.

Regina Holliday will be painting on suit jackets today, Tuesday, March 5th from 9:15 a.m until 3 p.m. in Room 252 at the HIMSS13 Conference.

At Get Real Health, we understand the critical need for patients to be engaged in their own health. In 2007, Get Real participated in the launch of Microsoft HealthVault and never looked back. There was a need for connected health solutions in every segment of the healthcare industry and our business grew as we introduced this cutting edge technology into the mainstream. We parlayed that initial partnership with Microsoft into a client roster that includes national and international health organizations and non-profits. The ensuing work on these projects exposed a void in the personal health record (PHR) market. The need for a custom, user friendly and effective PHR was evident and thus InstantPHR was created. InstantPHR is Get Real’s flagship product and has solidified our reputation as a vanguard in the connected health arena.

In 2012, we heralded our commitment to improving health outcomes through technology by changing our name from Get Real Consulting to Get Real Health. This transition from a professional services company to a product based company allows us to better serve the health segment that has become our niche.

Our best asset is vision. We have seen ideas sketched on the back of a cocktail napkin come to life with hard work and passion. We get excited about the products we build and that excitement gives us a stake in providing only the best technology, expert developers and project managers to each and every client.
