The Stress of “Too Many Patient Portals”

In this video, Robin Wiener, President of Get Real Health discusses the struggle patients have of signing up for multiple patient portals and how our InstantPHR platform helps solve that issue.

Robin: “The patients go into a hospital, or first they go to a doctor’s office before they go to the hospital, and then say “Oh, sign up for a patient portal!” so they do that and now they go to the hospital and the hospital goes “Oh, sign up for a patient portal!” and they’re like “Wait a second, I just did that!” “Oh no no, we have a different patient portal.”

So then they go down and get some labs because they are going to the hospital and they’re telling them to sign up for a patient portal. Now what happens to the patient is they’ve got three –and that’s just this one scenario– they’ve got three different logins and different information in each one of them. That’s frustrating! I mean, I personally have five and you want to be able to have the information in on spot.

What we’re trying to offer is instead of having these three–boom, boom, boom– having one that all the information from the doctor’s office, from the hospital, from the labs is all going to one place versus multiple places and that way I can see my labs here, I can see what the doctor at the doctor’s office told me and I can see what the hospital told me. I go to one place, one login and I’ve got the information. So I believe we are solving a problem for those patients that don’t want to have all these different portals, all these different logins, they just want to go one place and get their information and that’s what we are trying to solve for them.”
