The Key to Combating “Patient Portal Sprawl”

March 28, 2014Christina Nash

With the adoption of patient engagement platforms and patient portals comes a new challenge for healthcare providers, what Brandon Neiswender, Senior Director of Health Information Exchange for St. Luke’s University Hospital Network, calls “portal sprawl.”  When too many vendors offer portals targeted just to their particular services, patients have trouble keeping track of all the websites and passwords.  This makes getting their health information and sharing it with their providers very difficult.  With Get Real Health’s InstantPHR, St. Luke’s in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley is tackling this problem head on.

In the video above, Neiswender discusses St. Luke’s success using InstantPHR to keep their patients connected. To learn more about what Get Real Health is doing to combat portal sprawl, follow us on Twitter at @GetReal_Health).
