Jason Harmon, Get Real Health’s CTO and Founding Partner, knew from past experience that his week at HIMSS14 would be incredibly hectic. As a patient with type 1 diabetes, he also knew that eating well, exercising, and checking his glucose at regular intervals still needed to happen despite his crazy schedule of meetings, demos, and special events. Luckily, with the continuous glucose monitor that he wears, Jason automatically received readings every few minutes. And thanks to the InstantPHR™ software tool that his own company, Get Real Health, created, Jason can easily send those readings to his InstantPHR™ health record so that he and his care team can review them.
This type of interaction between a patient and his providers is the very definition of what patient engagement should be, as Jason sees it. In the video below, he says that patient engagement is about three things: patients understanding their health data and sharing the data they collect with their care team, doing the tasks they’re given by their providers, and communicating effectively with their providers based on this information. InstantPHR is an easy to use tool that accomplishes these goals simply and effectively.
