The ONC held its 3rd Annual Interoperability Forum recently where global Health IT leaders came together to discuss the necessary steps to forging a global thought process regarding data sharing and access. Per an article published by the ONC, the meeting yielded three key take-aways; all of which echo our mission.
The most basic of these conclusions is that patient-centered care is vital world-wide and a shared goal globally. “This concept is the foundation of everything,” explains Get Real Health CEO, Robin Wiener. “The nuts and bolts of how we make patient-centric care the norm is what needs to be ironed out. However, seeing that healthcare around the world is trending this way is very encouraging.
Speakers at the conference included representatives from the Netherlands who expanded on Medmij, the country’s standard for securely sharing health data between providers and patients. “We have been involved in MedMij and have solutions that recently earned certification,” said Wiener. “We applaud the Netherlands for their commitment to patient empowerment and look forward to giving them the tools to accomplish that goal.”
