Get Real Health was selected to provide Swedish citizens access to health data
ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (PRWEB) DECEMBER 02, 2015
Rockville-based health IT pioneer Get Real Health will be joined by Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett; Signe Pringle, Managing Director, Office of International Investment and Trade, Maryland Department of Commerce; and other local, state and federal representatives in welcoming dignitaries from Sweden’s eHealth Agency (eHälsomyndigheten) and Capgemini Sverige AB with a special event, Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Montgomery County Executive Office, 101 Monroe St., Second Floor, Rockville, Maryland. Sweden’s delegation will include eHälsomyndigheten Director General Torsten Håkansta; Head of Department Health & Pharmacy Service Tomas Lithner; Capgemini SVP Håkan Petersson; and a number of other guests.
Sweden selected Get Real Health to provide its citizens with a national health data platform. Swedish citizens will be introduced to an electronic personal health account that enables them to easily access and manage their health data, thanks to Get Real Health’s patient engagement platform, InstantPHR®. Get Real Health is partnering with Capgemini Sverige AB to bring a complete patient engagement solution, called HälsaFörMig, to Sweden’s publicly owned Swedish eHealth Agency. Capgemini will run the service, while Get Real Health’s two core products, InstantPHR® and CHBase™ (Connected Health Base), will provide the consumer health data platform.
The Swedish government’s goal is to contribute to improved healthcare for its citizens by providing a secure personal health record with tools to increase engagement and empower people to take greater control of their own health. “HälsaFörMig gives Sweden’s citizens a secure and interactive platform to gather their health information from multiple parties and connect wearable devices, supporting a greater engagement by the individual in their own personal health development,” said Eva Leach Elfgren, project manager at the Swedish eHealth Agency.
Sweden’s selection of Get Real Health highlights America’s leadership as an exporter of health information technology, Maryland’s progressive stance on international trade, and Montgomery County’s effectiveness as an incubator of innovative tech startups, explained Get Real Health President & Founding Partner Robin Wiener.
The global health IT industry is on target to reach $250 billion, according to the World Bank — and exporting health IT is a top U.S. international trade priority, evidenced by high-level International Trade Administration presence at HIMSS (Health Information & Management Systems Society), and by the White House’s Roundtable on Health IT and Exports.
While the U.S. had been lagging behind many of its European counterparts on healthcare IT and outcomes, the White House roundtable showcased how America has moved from a laggard to a leader in this space, thanks to companies offering know-how and products that are garnering international interest. Get Real Health is an expert at exporting health IT solutions and was invited to the White House Roundtable to share its insights on how the U.S. can capture a significant portion of the market.
“Get Real Health has expanded quickly since being named 2010 Maryland Incubator Company of the Year,” said Wiener. “Get Real Health was chosen by Sweden because of our proven and secure patient-based platform, our experience working on large-scale projects in other countries including Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and the United States, and our ability to understand and address the needs and objectives of the Swedish eHealth Agency.”
