Thousands of dollars are spent every year on haircuts, highlights, and hair products. Simply put, women cherish their hair. However, some choose to sacrifice the luxury of long, luscious hair to help children in need. Mangai Thiagarajan, Senior Technical Manager and Solution Architect at Get Real Health, is one of those women.
Having been inspired by a friend, Mangai donated 12 inches of her hair to a non-profit organization called Locks of Love that provides hairpieces for children suffering from medical diseases that cause hair loss. She figured, “Why not make use of my hair if a child is going to benefit from it?”
Mangai feels great about her decision and encourages anyone who is comfortable with cutting their hair to donate, making a good point that “your hair is going to grow back.”
Follow Mangai’s lead and check out Locks of Love to see what you can do to help.
