As we come upon the Fourth of July holiday, it is important to focus not only on the festivities of the day, but the fundamental ideals behind it.
This day celebrates our country’s independence and the freedom to govern itself with the Declaration of Independence as the official document guiding the founding fathers through the transition.
The United States has come a long way since those first days of independence and America is now seen as the beacon of freedom around the world.
Among the rights that are still evolving is the privilege of having full access to medical records in order to facilitate a collaborative approach to care. We believe this right to transparency is just as important as the freedoms laid out in those original documents of 1776.
For what could be more vital than shepherding your own health and care?
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) will continue to amend its original document and seek to ensure that citizens maintain their rights to their personal health data. Just as America has in the past, this great country will build on this fundamental idea and innovate and create until we have interoperability and access for everyone across all demographics.
And Get Real Health will carry on, building the framework that makes this inalienable right a reality, now and into the future.
As we reflect on the origins of the Fourth of July, we are grateful to be even a small part of bettering the lives of Americans. Just as the colonists forged a path long ago, Get Real Health will continue to trailblaze for patient empowerment and engagement.
Happy and safe Fourth of July to all!
