Get Real Consulting Developed Customized App Being Used by Lawson Health Research Institute, TELUS Health™ and Canada Health Infoway in Groundbreaking Mental Health Engagement Network Project
ROCKVILLE, Md. – October 12, 2012 — Get Real Consulting (Get Real) is proud to participate as the technology partner for a two-year Canadian Mental Health Engagement Network (MHEN) research project involving 400 enrollees who are managing their mood and psychotic disorders with the aid of an app specially developed by Get Real.
The app is called the Lawson SMART (Supportive Mental Assessment Rehabilitation and Treatment) record, which is a specialized version of the TELUS Personal Health Record — all based on Get Real’s InstantPHR™ technology. The app leverages TELUS healthspace®, powered by Microsoft® HealthVault® (a secure online consumer health platform, certified by Canada Health Infoway) that enables patients to collect, manage and share their health information both online and on their mobile phone.
“We are thrilled to be part of this cutting-edge research in Canada,” said Robin Wiener, Get Real’s president and founding partner. “Thanks to the unparalleled agility of our InstantPHR™ technology, this tool is helping patients and their providers engage in more productive sessions and determine the right course of care. It’s wonderful to help people living with mental illness play a more active role in their recovery process.”
The app gives patients control over theirhealth by tracking their moods, medication, and care plans — as well as their overall progress in specific categories, such as weight — while enabling direct communication with their providers outside of their regular sessions.
The modular design of Get Real’s InstantPHR™ provided two huge benefits for the project: reduced development time and a seamlessly simple and easy way for patients to collaborate with their providers to monitor and manage their own health.
By allowing the patients and their providers the ability to store and access health information, patients are better able to document their health and continue their therapy at home — as well as at their finger tips — by using the mobile application.
Get Real’s app also gives providers access to their patients’ health record, thus providing insight into each patient’s well-being prior to scheduled appointments. Providers receive alerts when patients document the same mood in their health tracker three or more times in a row, allowing providers to intervene when necessary outside of regular appointments.
