Farzad Mostashari Says “It’s OK to Advocate for the Patient”

March 10, 2014Christina Nash

Farzad Mostashari, MD, used to have mixed feelings about publicly advocating for patients in his role as a policymaker until he realized that his position as the ONC Director put him in the perfect position to do just that.  For the past several years he has encouraged increased patient engagement at HIMSS by (literally) wearing his feelings on his back!

In this video, Farzad shows off the beautiful hand painted jacket that medical advocate Regina Holliday created for him to illustrate his personal commitment to patient engagement and the Blue Button.

Learn more about Hollidays’s mission to spread the word about the benefits of HIT and timely data access through art on her blog.  Stay up to date on developments at Get Real Health by following them on Twitter at @GetReal_Health.
