With the upcoming changes in the healthcare and the Health IT industries, data exchanges are becoming more and more important, and healthcare providers are looking for ways to bring their patient portals and Personal Health Records (PHRs) up to Meaningful Use standards. Data exchanges have proved their utility, with 52% of participating hospitals reporting benefits related to better access to patient information. Both small clinics and large hospitals have expressed similar needs in terms of HIT, and GRH intends to create models that accommodate practices of all sizes.
One notable trend among larger hospitals is to consolidate their Electronic Health Records into a single longitudinal patient record. This is being done through Health Information Exchanges (HIEs). HIEs are becoming increasingly popular, with 73% of hospital CIOs reporting participation in one or more. This will allow PHRs, such as InstantPHR, to more easily connect data to patients.
GRH is also working on building strong relationships with both state HIEs and HIE vendors in order to help small to medium sized practices achieve Meaningful Use.
