Get Real Health CEO Mark Heaney has a big smile on his face. Despite his reserved demeanor, Heaney doesn’t hide his elation when asked how he feels as the end of 2012 draws near.
“By all measures, this has been an outstanding year for Get Real Health,” he says. “We surpassed our own very high expectations.”
Get Real Health was not only profitable; it doubled its revenue, far exceeding annual projections. The company’s financial growth reflects the success of its InstantPHR™ product and related services, as both patients and health care providers continue their rapid adoption of technology solutions to share information and improve health outcomes.
“We saw substantial product sales growth in the U.S., Canada and Europe,” reports Heaney.
Another high point for Heaney and the entire team was the completion of the company’s three-year business model transformation, from a professional services firm to a software product and related services company. That transformation culminated in an official name change — from Get Real Consulting to Get Real Health — in early November.
The company’s success led to growth in other areas of its operation, as well. Get Real Health’s U.S.-based staff more than doubled, which led to a doubling of its office space in Rockville, Maryland. As the firm’s dramatic growth continued throughout the year, even the new location became tight and they are already seeking additional space.
“We also established a permanent presence in the U.K. to complement our U.S. and Indian operations,” adds Heaney.
2012 was a year of new relationships and team building for Get Real Health. “We’re very excited to be teaming up with organizations like Microsoft, TELUS, Caradigm, Qualcomm Life, and GE Healthcare – Performance Solutions,” says Heaney. “We’re also pleased to have retained On The Marc Media to handle our public relations so we can stop being a well-kept secret in Healthcare Consumer Engagement Technology.”
The spotlight of industry recognition brought even more excitement. “We were truly honored to receive awards from ComputerWorld and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT,” says Heaney. “And seeing our clients Sanofi Canada and South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM) recognized for their Get Real Health-powered platforms was gratifying as well.”
As great as this past year has been, Heaney expects more progress in 2013 as the company continues scaling its capabilities to meet the increasing demands of the market.
“We’ll see continued growth, particularly around Meaningful Use Stage 2,” he says. “And some exciting product enhancements are on their way, which we’ll announce at the HIMMS13 Annual Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans.”
Get Real Health’s leadership in digital health innovation will continue to advance the capacity of provider organizations to develop, customize, integrate and modify their patient care solutions in real time.
“This is such an exciting time to be working in the healthcare IT space,” says Heaney. “We can all be proud of the work we’re doing to help lead change, knowing that our software products and related services will deliver revolutionary benefits to patients, to providers, and to the entire healthcare system.”
